The Da Vinci Code

I had the pleasure of watching a show about the Da Vinci Code on the Discovery-Times channel. From a secular perspective, he showed how the book is bunk. And the core allegation (about the blood line of Jesus) was some scam/practical joke from some Frenchmen during the 50's.

Comments:
I went to a lecture about that. It was by a woman who wrote a book called "Decoding the DaVinci Code". I don't recall everything she said, but she did mention an art historian telling her the author made some glaring mistakes, so beyond the religious aspects there are mistakes. Of course, as fiction, I'm sure it's a fine novel. Unfortunately too many people are taking it for more than that. Although i don't think the Vatican's "don't read that" message is going to help, maybe the opposite...

Wasn't aware that was the Vatican's position. Esp. when every conspiracy theory is "the Catholic Church suppressed this or that."

Also, people know very little history and even less church history to make heads or tails of the claims. What is interesting is that many are so willing to believe in this but the historic claims of the church which have a lot of support--they're skeptical.

Go figure.
