Pressure for Higher Fuel Standards
Call me silly, but I think higher fuel prices will stoke demand for greater efficiency with or without government regulation.

That is the silver lining in the higher gas prices; the market is forcing more attention to efficiency and alt-fuels. That being said, I feel the government needs to put more emphasis than it has to help automakers make alt-fuel cars a reality, specifically fuel cells.
