Why Did the Baltimore Orioles Obtain Sammy Sosa?

It appears they were trying to compete with the new team in Washington, D.C., formerly the Expos. That is not a good justification and it reminds me of bad decisions the Mets make in order to get noticed over and against the Yankees.

Comments:
It was a bad move. Even though the Cubs picked up a portion of his salary, he's washed up and won't contribute much. He won't have the winds at Wrigley blowing out, that's for sure. Maybe he'll DH. As for the Phillies, looks like Cole Hamels is following in the grand tradition of can't miss Phillies pitching prospects. Chris J.
