Joe Buck Writes Down Why People Aren't More Excited About Barry Bonds New Home Run Plateau

1) He perceived as a loner/jerk.
2) The steroid/performance-enhancing cloud hanging over him.
3) He plays on the West Coast, so highlights are already old by the time you watch them.

I agree with 1 and 2, not 3.

You're right, and number one looms largest of all of them. If it were Sammy Sosa--also tainted by steroid questions--people would still be more excited because they don't hate him.

Being on the West Coast never seemed to hurt Ken Griffey Jr.'s popularity. Fernandomania sprung from Southern California, and Randy Johnson (Seattle, Arizona) seems to have gotten a fair amount of recent positive press.
